Quick Acekard question

I have a Nintendo DS, will a AceKard 2i work fine on a DS or only designed for the DSi ??

Yes, any flashcart made to work in a DSi, DSi XL(LL), will work in a DS or DS lite. Additionally, you do not need to worry if the AK2i has been flashed to work with the 1.4 firmware of the DSi since you will be using it in a DS.
