Hi there,

I just found this site and i looks like you guys/girls are just the people i have been seeking. I'm a newbie when it comes to the DS so I need some help making the right choices here...
Some time ago I got a NDSi XL (1.4.1 E) as a present (Yay!), but now i need some help on the best flash cards to buy for homebrew, backing up retail games etc. and it looks like i found the right place (i hope).

I found a danish (i live in dk) distributor of the R4i gold www.r4i-sdhc.com card, but after looking here I wasn't sure if this would be the best card to buy... Any help would be appreciated :)

Sorry for any misspelling, my English isn't perfect... And by the way, great site you got here!

Hi Rolfenstein, welcome to DSiHacks.

First, your DSi has the latest firmware installed, 1.4.1. When purchasing a flashcart for your DSi, you need to make sure that the flashcart is updated to be used with the 1.4.1 DSi firmware, some stores will update the flashcart, but it is good to check if they do that. Most of the flashcarts are not updated yet because 1.4.1 is still kind of new. If you purchase a flashcart that is updated to 1.4 then you cannot updated it because your DSi is at 1.4.1 and it will not recognize the flashcart. You will need a DS lite to update the flashcart to 1.4.1. There are a few flashcarts that can be updated with a computer, Supercard DStwo and M3i Zero. I do not think there are any R4 carts that capable of doing that.

Thank's for the quick answer !

If I buy the M3i Zero can i use it for both homebrew and playing backups of my retail games? and how about GB and SNES games?

Sorry for all the stupid questions :S
