Greetings.
I am interested in getting a DSi XL and I want to be able to to follow a simple guide to allow me to play "backup games" without originals, rip a backup, play some old school emulator games, etc.
I have had success using some Wii Hacks for my Wii and I followed a simple guide for the Full Hacking Guide for 4.2 Menus from Messie. Everything there was simple to follow.
However, I am not easily finding a guide that is as well detailed for DSi XL hacking....what is the best guide and link to that guide?
Am I correct, in understanding that I will need to purchase something else? Like a different card or something?
If I have to purchase other hardware to complete a DSi XL hack, what should I get? From where? What all do I need?
Hacking a DSi XL seems more complex than the Wii Hacks, is this true? Is it worth it?
Thanks everyone...

So, I have begun my research...it appears that a well known and well valued hack for DSi XLs is the Acekard2.
I have an 8GB micro SD Card already...
So, do I simply order an Acekard2?
Is there anyplace to buy one that is preferred?
What are the steps needed to hack a DSi XL?
Thanks.

You can use any flashcart that is compatible with the DSi / DSi XL. When you say Acekard2, you mean the Acekard 2i right, the Acekard 2 only works on the DS and DS lite. There are others like the M3i Zero which gets my vote, the SuperCard DS 2, and other lesser brands. About 2 weeks into December, team Cyclops will be releasing the CycloDS iEvolution, that cart is expected to run about $50 (USA).
There is a guide here somewhere at DSiHacks, probably in the guides section, on how to rip your retail games.
If you are looking to purchase then visit the ModChip Depot, GamerTech.ca, or CanadaMods.ca. These forum supporters put the bread on the table at WiiHacks, and DSiHacks wouldn't have been if it weren't for WiiHacks, so support those that support you. I have made multiple purchases from CanadaMods, the orders took 5 working days to arrive in the USA, not bad for having to go thru customs.
There is no hacking involved, just using a flashcart is all you need. You receive a flashcart in the mail, download the firmware and install it, then install your roms. I have 8GB microSD cards in all my flashcarts, it will hold a fair amount of roms.

Thank you!
My Goals: I am attempting to get to a DSi XL and the best "i" Flash Card to allow me to play back up DS Games, Emulator Games (Roms), and run some DS Homebrew stuff.
It sounds easier than I originally thought...
Am I correct, in the following:
1. I purchase a compatible "i" supported Flash Card.
2. I will need to install firmware onto the new Flash Card, correct? I assume each card has different sites to obtain these, which is best for my goals description above?
3. The micro SD Cards insert into the Flash Card?
4. On the micro SD Cards, I can place backup DS game images, and music, pictures, roms for emulators, etc.?
5. Where do I get DS Homebrew applications?
Thanks.

1 yes2 yes, for what you want to do I recommend dstwo or, the budgetsulution, an acekard2i3 yes4 again, yes5 use google, on filetrip you can find many.

The three main, simple rules:
1. Don't ask for roms or say you did download one.
2. Advising on where to buy is ok, but never spam
3. Never post links, except to downloads or news sources
If you don't follow these rules, enjoy your ban
